I have a product serial number: MH*****9NY but the coverage is expired what does that mean ?

Seems the Apple Care / Warranty / on the product is no longer active.

Many products have coverage (for eg: one year. or more)

When the time is up, then coverage has expired.

The product's warranty period is finished.

Sometimes Apple Care can be extended for a further period of time,
