Receiving Gmail spam at my iCloud alias address

I only have my iCloud email set up on my iMac and iOS devices, so I receive emails sent to xxxxx@mac.com, xxxxx@me.com and xxxxx@icloud.com, but recently I have started receiving phishing and spam emails to xxxxx@gmail.com. How can this be?

I have the same issue. I waited a while to see if it resolved itself - it has not. The email was sent to random six digit gmail addresses originating at newsletters@email.consumerreports.org and three digit iCloud addresses originating at variations of info.###@#####.irkaspersky.com where # is a random digit. It's an account that I seldom used, and almost never had spam until this spam salvo, and the spam isn't even addressed to me. It mostly ends up in Junk and I'm getting over forty every day.

I sent an email from a Gmail account to some of the addresses to see if they would come to me again and they did not. I got a delivery failure message on one:

----------

Address not found

Your message wasn't delivered to 583118@gmail.com because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.

550 5.2.1 The email account that you tried to reach is disabled. Learn more at https://support.google.com/mail/?p=DisabledUser

----------

I forwarded a copy to the abuse email address at the two senders' emails asking that they deal with the issue, but this seems like an Apple problem first since I was not the intended recipient, and Apple shouldn't be putting gmail in my iCloud mail.

Have you escalated or resolved this yet?

On my Mac I use SpamSieve, SpamSieve is a paid application.

SpamSieve is a powerful spam filtering to the e-mail client on your Mac, see:.

https://c-command.com/spamsieve/

On the Mac, SpamSieve allows you to block spammers.

As a result, you will not get spam on the iPhone or other iDevice.

From a spammer after you add the email address to the blacklist, the email address will be permanently blocked.

For several spammers, each time you have to add their email address separately to the blacklist in SpamSieve.
