iPhone won't connect to home wifi

First, I have two MacBooks and an iPad and they are all connected to my home wifi. Periodically, my iPhone will drop the wifi connection and then not reconnect. Usually it just spontaneously reconnects, but this time it's been a full day. I've already:

  • turned wifi on the phone on and off
  • turned the phone on and off
  • reset phone wifi

I keep getting the message that the wifi password is incorrect but it's the same password I use on the other devices. And yes, I've shared the password from those devices and the phone still tells me it's incorrect. I have not turned the router and modem off and restarted because they're working with three other devices and I don't want to start problems with those. Any advice? Thanks.

Hello Judy,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are having a Wi-Fi issue with your iPhone and will see a message that the Wi-Fi password is incorrect. The good news is we have some steps for you to look into that maybe helpful:

  1. First, let's make sure your iPhone has the correct date and time: Change the date and time on iPhone - Apple Support
  2. Another good step is to make sure your iPhone is fully up to date: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
  3. If you have a VPN or other mobile security apps installed, temporarily uninstall this as they can cause issues like this Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues - Apple Support and then restart your iPhone Restart your iPhone - Apple Support and test this again.
  4. We would recommend checking your Wi-Fi router settings Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support to see if there are device limits that could explain this, and even temporarily change the Wi-Fi password and see if you have this issue again.

If you follow all of those steps and are still having this issue with your iPhone, please contact Apple directly for further investigation: Get Support

Cheers!

I fixed this problem . If your iPhone won’t connect to your wifi , but everything else connects to your wifi .. and also if your iPhone keeps asking you to re enter your wifi password and then says the password is incorrect ( even though you know it’s correct ) . I did all the advised tips I.e. turned off router / phone and back on , I reset network settings in mi iPhone , turned the toggle off and on the wifi .. nothing worked .. THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED WAS SIMPLE .. see photo below .. on the main iPhone quick access page , you glide your finger down your iPhone screen from the top right corner .. then switch off the blue wifi icon then switch it back on . My WiFi reconnected straight away . You may have to re enter your wifi password but it may just re connect instantly. I am very relieved as I just tried everything else . Best wishes from Dublin 👋
