Can Mac be a factor in Verizon Yahoo Email not working?

Today I realized that my email account at Verizon.net is not sending or receiving email and hasn't since May 2.

After a lot of searching for an answer, I wonder if this could be something to do with Apple.

Apple said

"If an alert indicates that your message can’t be sent using a specific outgoing Mail Server, it’s possible that you’re not using the required server for the Email , or the server may be configured incorrectly in Mail settings.

  1. In the Mail app on your Mac, choose Mail > Settings, click Accounts, then select an account. "

I couldn't find a way to do Choose Mail>Settings>Accounts". If I click "Mail", it takes me to my email accounts. If I right click "Mail", nothing happens.

Another Apple message said:

"Mail settings are not known for your email provider. Please contact your provider for correct settings.

Verify an email account’s outgoing server in Mail on Mac

The server may be configured incorrectly in Mail settings.

Open Mail for me        (Mail offline) "

This is from Verizon Community:

"You can also manually add the settings for the Yahoo account. Here are the server settings:

incoming server: imap.mail.yahoo.com.  port: 143

outgoing server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com. port: 587 "

I don't know how to do this. Is this information that Apple needs? If so, how do I get it to them? I didn't see anything in Support or elsewhere to give them this information. I have hours today on this. Hopefully someone here can help.

Thanks.

With your help I was able to Go to>Mail>Accounts>Account Information and Server Settings.(I wasn't seeing Mail at the top of the screen-I didn't know that mail had to be open for it to show!). I was unable to enter anything in Server Settings and most of it I did not know what to enter-except for the Server Settings.

I was really getting frustrated when I began to wonder if I could do anything about it on Windows computer. I got the same message there -that I was logged out- (in the past have never had to log into VerizonYahoo) as before but tried other things. Since Yahoo is linked to Google, Google sent me the option to make a new password for Yahoo (mine wasn't working) and I was able to log in.

I went back to Mac and got it working again. I am so glad that a few years ago I linked the two accounts when I was given that option by Google!

I'm slowly learning my way around Mac World!
