Rapid Security Update for iOS 16.4.1???

Today i had notification badge on system app. Checked and there was a software update … it said it was a rapid security update and i clicked “install now”. Then saw “checking security… something I don’t remember”. And screen went black. I restarted and had a strange blank red notification badge on phone app. I restarted again… nothing said I had a successful install of anything. I am just concerned. Especially now reading that these are automatic? Why did I get a notification? Was I just hacked?

Moving forward with your other two questions, we'd like to learn more about what's happening, along with ruling out some possible causes:

It sounds like you were able to update successfully. If that's right, the latest version would be iOS 16.4.1(a). Is this the version showing currently under Settings > General > About?
As it was also unclear, is that blank red notification badge still showing on the Phone app after you restarted your iPhone?
