How do I delete old iMovie projects and events?

If they are iMovie 10 projects, this help link will show you how to delete the projects:

After deleting the project, one needs to delete the Event from the All Events folder that bears the projects name in order to completely remove the media from the iMovie library. If you delete the media from the iMovie library it will disable all projects that may be referring to that media.
