Auto reply on driving focus is not sending a text

I set up driving focus with an auto reply message. Privacy >Focus >Messages toggle is on. Messages > both iMessage and Send as SMS toggles are on. Manually sending texts via iMessage and to android users via SMS is working. I do not see a network issue on my phone. My iOS is updated to the latest version 16.4.1. I live in India (India does not have the voicemail feature for any carrier) and I use a Jio SIM card with 5G enabled. All my driving focus settings are logically correct with 3 contacts added to ‘allow notifications’. I set my auto reply to ‘all contacts’.

Now, if an android user who is not on my exception list calls me, they get a busy tone but the Auto reply text is not sent to them. Anyone else facing this issue? Please help. This is very important to me.

I have an IPhone 12 - and Auto reply on driving focus is not sending a text.

I've tried the info above from 2 yrs ago and it hasn't fixed the problem.

Looking for a good answer - many thanks.

Thank you for reaching out Vic_nal,

It sounds like you're having some trouble with your Driving Focus. We can help.

From what you've described, our suggestion is to remove the focus, and then set it up again to make sure everything is configured correctly. You can follow these steps to Stay focused while driving with iPhone:

Set up the Driving Focus

You can set up the Driving Focus to turn on automatically when you’re in a moving car. (You can also turn it on manually in Control Center.)
1. Go to Settings  > Focus, tap Driving, then turn on Driving.
2. Tap Focus Status (below Options), then turn on Share Focus Status.
3. Tap Auto-Reply, then choose who should receive an auto-reply when the Driving Focus is on:
* No one
* Recents
* Favorites
* All Contacts
8. You can edit your auto-reply message to customize it.
9. Then tap the Back button at the top left.
10. Tap While Driving (below Turn On Automatically), then select when to activate Driving:
* Automatically: When iPhone detects you might be driving.
* When Connected to Car Bluetooth: When your iPhone is connected to a car’s Bluetooth system.
* Manually: When you turn it on in Control Center.
* Activate With CarPlay: Automatically when iPhone is connected to CarPlay.

If you find you continue running into difficulty with messages being sent, and you've confirmed the contact is correctly listed, you can connect with Apple directly using either Apple Support or if you're in a region without direct support options, you can also Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

Hope that helps.

Take care.
