Software update keeps popping up when iPhone XR is connected to MacBook

Does anyone know a fix for iPhone XR that when connected to my MacBook Pro (Catalina) constantly says "software update is required to connect your iPhone" and wants me to install it when it already is updated!!!!!

Software update for connecting iphone to Mac When I try to connect my iphone XR to my Mac I get a notice saying a software update is required. When I click on "Install" I get a popup that says "Installing." The progress bar is already filled in and it just sits there. I've left it up for over thirty minutes and nothing seems to happen. Any solutions? Thanks.

The software update is to the iOS driver, it is not an update to MacOS. And you must install it to connect your iPhone.
