Apple Music won't play in ATMOS 7.1.4 (only 5.1)

Hi it doesn't help!

I have Mac OS 12+ and when I do setup for 7.1.4 in audio midi setup... it works in Logic Pro when im mixing the songs but when im using apple TV or Apple Music (Dolby Atmos) sound come only from 5.1 speakers ( I have 2 UAD Apollo x8P)

also when I do "test" in audio midi setup - all speakers work correctly

It only works if your audio interface does not support more than 16 output channels.

A workaround for me was installing "Loopback" and configure it as virtual audio interface with 12 channels.

BTW

On my system, Logic omitted two high channels before installing Loopback.

I'm just testing Sonoma and it gets even more complicated.

Loopback does not work with Sonoma and the alternative App Blackhole works but you get short dropouts at start and ending of Atmos songs in Apple Music.

On the other hand Logic works throwing out all 7.1.4 channels without Blackhole and that's more important for me.

if you're using apollo x16, you need to set the amount of 16 in and 16 out, thats the only way it worked with me

the sound card cannot have more than 16 channels for atmos out in apple music (i don't know why!)

5. Choose Automatic, Always On, or Off.

If you choose Automatic, here’s what you need

Supported songs automatically play in Dolby Atmos when you're listening with:

* AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, AirPods (3rd generation), or Beats Fit Pro with Spatial Audio turned on

* AirPods (1st or 2nd generation)

* BeatsX, Beats Solo3 Wireless, Beats Studio3, Powerbeats3 Wireless, Beats Flex, Powerbeats Pro, Beats Solo Pro, or Beats Studio Buds

* The built-in speakers on a MacBook Pro (2018 model or later), MacBook Air (2018 model or later), or iMac (2021 model)

If you mix in Logic, you have to generate at least one object track for getting 7.1.4

If you use only beds, you are limited to 7.1.2.

Don't know why but that's the way it is at the moment.

I always set the ambience and reverb sends to objects therefor.

Exactly the same thing happen to me using Apollo x16 , Kind of weird , and is very important in order to compare yes , some can help with that?

Before you buy anything, you might try the Sonoma beta.

There I'm getting 7.1.4 in all its glory without "Loopback" or "Blackhole"
