BRAND NEW 2020 M1 MacBook Air dies unexpectedly at 40-50%.

I have a brand new MacBook Air that works completely fine except the battery is dying at 40% charge. Initially this issue was happening on a different Mac of the same model that I bought a week ago, so I took it down to Best Buy to get it replaced today and 6 hours into using it it dies at 53%... On both Macs when I turned it on it would display a completely different battery percent (on the old Mac it displayed 1%, on this Mac it displayed 20% and then shot up to 60% after a restart) This is not a battery issue because my Mac and battery were both manufactured December 2022. I updated both Macs from 13.0 -> latest but the issue STILL persists. I highly doubt that this could be a hardware issues because it is happening on BOTH of the Macs that I got.

What have I done about this issue on BOTH devices?

-reset SMC (did nothing)

-run hardware diagnostics (both devices have said no issues found...)

-called apple support (they told me to update the os and the issue still persisted)

-checked battery capacity (100%... what a shocker because they were both manufactured 3 months ago)

-replaced my first MacBook for this one (issue is affecting more than one device)
