why is website saying 'not secure' on mac but fine on my iphone?

I cant access a website I know is safe on my mac as its coming up with a warning 'not secure'. However, when i use the same website on my iphone or another computer its fine and no warning comes up.

How to I fix this error?

Hello lochie224,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

As indicated in the article listed above, if you're seeing a message that a particular page isn't secure, this is likely related to a certificate.

You'll want to reach out to the website owner or administrator to let them know. They should be able to provide additional info about what's happening.

Cheers!

Is your MacBook Air still running OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)? Are you using Safari, or another browser, for web browsing? If Safari, which version is it running?

If Safari, the issue may be that the version of Safari that you are running cannot use the proper SSL/TLS protocol version in order to access today's secured websites. You need to use TLS version 1.2 to do so ... which was added with Safari v7.0.
