I bought the family a much nicer TV set, and it did not work reliably with the DVD player. Then I discovered:

HDMI cables you want for HDMI-only Displays (higher resolutions than 720p TV sets) are marked as Certified with an anti-counterfeiting tag and are labeled:

"Premium High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "with Ethernet" --OR--

"Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G"

Cables with No Certification tags are good for your standard 720p TV set, and not much more.

+1 for me. Solved the problem:

My Macbook Pro M1 is hooked to a Samsung Smart Monitor oder USB-C and then from the Monitor via HDMI ARC to a soundbar. Always got audio dropouts and stutter for a while.

Updating the monitor and soundbar firmware didn't help, so i switched all cables. Didn't help.

After doing following terminal commands in MacOS it doesn't stutter for a while, but returns randomly.

sudo killall coreaudiod

(kills and restarts coreaudiod automaticly)

:-(
