I can't move messages from yahoo inbox to folders I have set up

I am on MacBook air laptop Ventura 13.2.1 and since yesterday - (no upgrades or changes) - I could no longer drag emails from yahoo inbox to specific folders I have set up.

This was following a few hours of working off-line whilst stuck at airport, sorting emails into folders - it was working initially then it stopped. I was no longer able to drag over to folders.

This morning it was still stuck - but changing the sort order of emails seems to have unstuck so I have now been able to move emails to folders - but the 'Moving Messages' message at the bottom of the Mail left hand gutter where all the folders are listed - is stuck on 'Moving Messages 1 of 34'.

I am not sure how to reindex a yahoo email account on Apple MacBook Air?

Should I delete the mailbox and set it up again to see if that fixes it?

Hello @tbirdvet - I have run the rebuild twice now and it has stabilised it a little. I have managed to move 100 or so emails to specific folders. But there are some emails in yahoo inbox that I still cannot move to folders even if I try with one, and for others if I select more than approx. 10 it looks as if they are moving, but then they re-appear after a few seconds back in the inbox. Any further helpful thoughts please :)

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
