AirPort Time Capsule

I have no trouble accessing my password-protected home network when using my newish MacBook Air (Ventura 13.3.1). But when try to access the same network using my ancient PowerBook (Tiger 10.4.11), the same password is rejected. What gives?

AirPort Extreme Setup Glitch I have a long established AirPort network based on an AirPort Extreme A1521. The network was set up with OS 10.13.6. It works just fine with (now) OS 12.6 except ... I am setting up another AirPort Extreme to work in the network and AirPort Utility (v 6.3.9) will NOT accept the password for the network to do so. I enter the password in the dialog box, hit "Enter" and it just recycles back empty. What am I missing here?

Only one device won't connect to network We have several Apple devices but I have a recurring issue connecting to my Macbook Air to mypreferred wifi network. When I attempt to switch to that network it won't accept the password when I type it in, or when I have the password provided by another device (connected to that network). If it matters: Recently I "upgraded" my Verizon service and that process involved moving the main router (that I now have trouble with) to the basement and an extension was placed in the spot the main one previously occupied. I also have a second extension on the top floor of my house to which my laptop will still connect. That second extension has been functioning properly for years. The problematic network does appear as available in my Macbook's list of networks, but as I mentioned above, the password entry dialog box keeps reappearing after I enter the (correct) password.

The PowerBook cannot support the higher default WPA2 Wi-Fi security settings that the Time Capsule is using.

I doubt that it would work, but you could try to lower the security setting on the Time Capsule. The downside.....security on your entire network is seriously diminished to a setting that is no longer considered secure.

Best bet..... look for a Wi-Fi to USB adapter to try on the old PowerBook. Amazon has them.
