I think I'm right on this point... the problem might be in the car's software, and it could even be Working As Designed (not that it means designed is what you want). The CarPlay software simply notifies the car system that a new device has been connected and is now available. The car's software makes the decision to shift from radio to CarPlay input source.
I have noticed something similar on my RAV4. If I have been pushing music to the audio system from my iPhone, and I hit Pause before powering down - when I restart the car the music stream (Apple Music on the iPhone) will automatically resume and play. To prevent this I have to switch source on the car's audio, (after pausing the music or before the iPhone reconnects) and it will then stay on the radio source.

That's a problem with the head unit in your car, not the phone.
That solution is not a solution. That is just the basics of how to start the app. The problem is real and truly exists. In my case it's the navigation and every time it talks it switches off the radio. So it's a real problem that is a real solution. It's really easy to find the basic instructions to do something and very frustrating for that to get label a solution.
I agree very annoying. It’s not a phone issue. I have two 2024 Hondas. One car works fine the other does not. It has to be setting to cars computer. I called Honda twice now no real solution. Any ideas?
