CarPlay overrides radio in my Subaru

I have had a 2020 Subaru Outback for 3 years. Within the last week or so, if I am playing the radio and plug my iPhone (14) in to the cord in front, the radio turns off and CarPlay turns on. If I switch back to radio, it plays for maybe 5-8 seconds and switches back to CarPlay.

This is clearly a problem caused by either an iPhone update or CarPlay - but the iPhone updates more frequently, so I’m betting it’s the iPhone.

Can anyone explain how to listen to my radio again while having my phone plugged in - either for charging or for maps, for example? This is driving me nuts!

This may help --> Apple CarPlay Setup --> Subaru

Select “Allowed Apps.” Ensure CarPlay is enabled. If slider is green, CarPlay is allowed.
