The 5th generation iPad Air can be charged with a USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) with a power output of up to 20 watts (W) or higher. Apple recommends using a 20W or 30W USB-C power adapter to charge the iPad Air for optimal charging speed.

However, the iPad Air can also be charged with other USB-C power adapters that support USB-PD, including third-party ones, as long as they meet the power requirements mentioned above. You can also charge the iPad Air using a USB-C to USB-A cable with a USB-A power adapter, but this will result in slower charging speeds.
