iPhone (XR), iPad and ancient iMac forgetting WiFi password

This is an odd one.

Since the update to iOS 16.4.1/iPadOS 16.4.1 I've had issues with them 'forgetting' my WiFi password.

The device will drop connection to my home WiFi. When I go to reconnect I will see my home network SSID under 'my networks'. I click connect, but I always have to re-enter the wifi password. It's happened a lot on my phone, twice on my iPad and once of my iMac.

The iMac is the weird one as it's the 2012 vintage and still on 10.15.7 (19H2026).

Have reported the bug to Apple.

1.

iPhone & iPad -> try to do a force restart -> Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

2.

Check the router settings, see -> Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support

Perhaps you need to update the router firmware.

Use here also an iMac 24" late 2012 also with macOS Catalina - 10.15.7.
