Notifications from Home app

Hi!

I’ve got four Philips Hue motion sensors, two of them set up via Home app to send me notifications at movement when I’m not at home.

After the latest update 16.4.1 suddenly those automations are going crazy; all sensors are now suddenly set to notify me when not at home, but all send when I am at home. When moving around the house that turns into a whole lot of notifications..

Anyone else with similar problems, and maybe a solution?

Thanks for any input and happy Wednesday!

Hi May-DK,

To clarify, the setting in the scene or automation is still accurate, but notifications are going off while at home regardless?

If so, try deleting the automation and re-creating it.

"Turn off or delete an automation

To enable or disable an automation:

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and go to the Automation tab.
  2. Tap or click the automation.
  3. Turn Enable This Automation on or off.

Tap or click Turn Off to choose an amount of time to turn off accessories in an automation. For example, if you create an automation that turns on the lights when you arrive home, you can have the lights turn off after an hour.

To delete an automation, tap or click the automation, then scroll to the bottom and tap or click Delete Automation. On your iPhone or iPad, you can also swipe left over the automation and tap Delete."

After re-creating it, if you find the same thing happens, were there any other changes such as changes to your network, new router, a VPN added, anything that may affect how your devices see your current location?

Let us know and we'll continue from there.

Cheers!

Hi DerekM87 👋

Thanks for your response!

My iPhone has always been the device automations involving gps rely on, as it’s always with me and also leaves the house. However I do actually have a new broadband in the house - and when I’m at home all devices, including iPhone, run on this new broadband. But that shouldn’t affect the notifications, when it’s the gps and iPhone the automations for when not at home rely on?

I was hoping I could avoid deleting and recreating, but I guess that’s the best way and will try it out.

thanks so far 🙏🏻

Hi again,

At first I simply turned off all notifications for the sensors, waited a few days and turned them back on. That seemed to work for a week or so. I then only had notifications for the sensors when I was not at home, as set up.

But the problem resurfaced (notifications at all times).

I removed the mini homepods from the home app. This resulted in me not being able to add them again for several days. Finally that worked. I then reactivated notifications from the sensors for when not being at home.

It worked for maybe a week, then suddenly they were back to sending notifications at all times.

What else can I try?

Best regards

May
