Android File Transfer not working on Mac OS Ventura

I am using a Mac with M1 chip with Ventura 13.3.1. I am trying to get Android File Transfer to connect to a Samsung S21+5G running Android 13.

The transfer program works no problem on a Windows PC. So problem is with Mac.

I have consulted the Apple forum, tried all the various tips such as at https://techyorker.com/how-to-fix-android-file-transfer-not-working-on-macos-13-ventura/ , using *#0808# to set the USB settings, deleted and reinstalled the file transfer program, and rebooting the Mac and phone repeatedly with no luck.

From forum posts this is a known issue. What is a 'fix' that will actually work?

None of the solutions worked for me as well until I've realized that the Preview app was seemingly closed (not visible in the dock as a running app), but still appeared in the Activity Monitor. After quitting the Preview process from Activity Monitor I could easily connect my phone via Android File Transfer. Maybe it'll work for you as well?

Thanks for the suggestion, but no luck. But it did prompt me to give in another try. I found if I shut down everything (only Finder active) it would connect. Hurrah!

Awesome! Great to hear that it has triggered you to find your solution. Next time you can quit each processes one by one and try connecting, so you can deduce with process actually causes the issue. Would be interesting to hear that.
