every time I click the lock button, it brings me to my Lock Screen with low brightness. How do I change the settings to fully lock my screen so it turns black.

The iPhone 14 series has an always on screen; the lock screen stays on when you lock the phone, and you can add widgets to it such as Weather, Activity, and other apps. If you don’t like this feature go to Settings/Display & Brightness and turn off Always On Display.

Not significantly. That’s why the screen dims, to save energy.
