how many of what kind of connectors in the lead-in cable?

Answer 1: Mini DisplayPort with a ThunderBolt symbol and MagSafe, for a total of two. This is the Thunderbolt Display, which requires a ThunderBolt (any version) Mac.

Answer 2: Mini DisplayPort, 'regular' USB-A shaped, and MagSafe, for total of three. This is the 27-in LED display and just needs a Mini DisplayPort cable from your Mac Pro 42 lb silver tower.
