FindMy and Maps not rendering on WiFi

When I am connected to my work WiFi neither FindMy or Maps will render on my personal MacBook Pro or iPad. I cannot view a maps in either app when I am connected to my work WiFi. However, my personal iPhone will render maps quickly when its WiFi is turned off. Apparently my iPhone's cellular connection will render maps

Each device is completely updated and I have restarted each. No joy.

The work WiFi network quickly loads webpages (an Ookla Speedtest shows nearly a 300mbps download).

Is there a filter on the work router that could cause this problem?

Hello Casey,

Thanks for reaching out! It's possible that the work WiFi network has a filter or firewall that's blocking the necessary connections for FindMy and Maps to work properly. You may want to check with your IT department or network administrator to see if there are any restrictions in place that could be causing the issue. They may be able to adjust the settings on the router to allow the necessary connections.

Alternatively, you could try using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) on your personal MacBook Pro or iPad to see if that helps. A VPN can help bypass any restrictions or filters that may be in place on the work network.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

If it works in Safe Mode but not normal boot mode threre's some 3rd party software that problem is the culprit.
