Several Minor Issues
I have been experiencing several little annoying issues with my Mac recently. None of these are major issues that make the computer unusable, but they are getting to be very annoying the more I put up with them. Has anyone else experienced any of these?
1 - Finder not remembering view preferences
I prefer to view my files in list view, and I have gone into view options and checked the box that says “Always open in list view”, but for some reason, it keeps defaulting back to icon view no matter how many times I change this. It may stay in list view for a day or two and then randomly switch back to icon view.
2 - Apps constantly requesting Keychain Access
I have noticed that this particular issue seems to come up any time the battery dies. If my MacBook battery dies on me, when I plug it in and power back on, multiple apps will suddenly start prompting me to enter my password for keychain access. No matter how many times I dismiss these alerts, they keep coming back. The only solution I have found is to close everything I am working on, restart the computer, and then get back to work.
3 - Dock icons opening the wrong application
If I have multiple apps open and want to quickly switch between apps, something I will do is click the icon in the dock. I am aware of other methods to switch between apps such as Cmd-tab and I will use that at times too, but something I have noticed is there are times when I click an app in the dock and something else opens. For example, I may click the icon for Spotify and it will switch to Notes instead. This only happens when switching between apps already running on the computer. It never opens a new application, thankfully.
4 - Favorites disappearing from Finder sidebar
I have had multiple times now when certain file locations that I have saved to Favorites in the sidebar (such as Desktop or Downloads) will randomly disappear from my sidebar. I can easily add them back, but eventually, they randomly disappear again.
5 - Copy and Paste Error
This is a fairly recent one that just started happening after the OS update to Ventura 13.3. When I try to copy and paste using Cmd-C and Cmd-V, it will give an error sound effect like I’m trying to do something I can’t do. The files usually still copy successfully (although not always), but the sound effect is getting annoying any time I have to copy something.
6 - Keyboard typing ddoouubbllee cchhaarraacctteerrss in Launchpad.
This is also a more recent one. If I try typing in the search box in Launchpad, each key press will randomly type the character twice. For example, if I try to type “Safari”, it will instead type “SSaaffaarrii”. I have not noticed this issue anywhere else, only in Launchpad.
7- Popping speakers
Of all of these issues, this one has gone on the longest and is one of the most annoying. Any time I am doing a task that requires much power from the computer, such as trying to edit a video, the speakers will start making a weird annoying popping sound. This has been going on since MacOS Monterey. I was hoping that a software update to Ventura would fix it, but so far no luck.
Has anyone else noticed any of these issues as well? I am on an M1 Pro MacBook Pro 16” with 16GB RAM and on MacOS Ventura 13.3
