Hi NikonAnn2,
The most common reason for an external drive to not be seen by a Mac is the wrong format for macOS. These two pages below have the information for using Disk Utility to verify the format, and which formats are compatible:
Erase and reformat a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac - Apple Support
File system formats available in Disk Utility on Mac - Apple Support
Take care!

I assume it was working OK under Ventura 13.2? If so, have you updated your Apple ID configuration in System Settings since updating to 13.3? There was a change in the guts of the interaction between iCloud and macOS that involves access to external volumes, and that could have something to do with what you're seeing.
Thank you so much for your reply.
Actually I have solved the problem which was caused by two things.
The first was caused by the installation of Ventura 13.2.1.
Connection to my other networked computers was solved once Ventura 13.3 was issued.
I traced the problem that I had also experienced with my cable-connected external drives not showing-up.
It was caused by an Apple connecting cable which has become defective and which I have now replaced with a new cable.
