Brother MFC-495CW

I cannot bring up the scanner in Brother's App, apparently after upgrading to Ventura. I have 13.2.1. The Broher app is version 18 (see printer model # in subject heading).

However, I CAN reach the scanner from the "import" function in Preview (Mac app).

What does this tell me (somebody else who knows I mean)?

Is there any other workaround?

I did some basic research, but either didn't find anything or I don't understand what the solution is. I THINK I read somewhere that Brother specifically stated they are not supporting my printer. I also think that I tried another brother [?] app, Airprint for Brother maybe? I'm already tapped out and wondering if someone else can confirmmy brick wall or suggest a way around it.

Thanks -

Hi,

The Brother MFC-495CW does not appear to be a model with the driverless AirPrint technology.

The latest supported printer driver is for macOS 10.15 Catalina:

https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc495cw_all&os=10060

Sometimes, a Catalina printer driver works even with some newer operating system versions.

The same may or may not be true for the Scanner Driver (ICA) on the same web page. The name seems to imply use with Apple's Image Capture, which possibly could explain why scanning has been working.

If necessary, a third-party paid product VueScan is also said to support this printer.
