Unable to change media volume with Siri

According to Apple, you can ask Siri to change the media volume. However, while the request elicits a response, it does not actually change the volume.

Below is the response to the request: "Hey Siri, set media volume to 50%" -- As you can see, the volume indicator remains where it was prior to the request.

Is this a bug, was the feature removed, or am I doing something wrong?

Hey there studiowerks,

We'd like to help by learning more about what's happening, along with ruling out some general possible causes:

  1. When did this start to occur when asking Siri to change the volume?
  2. Does the same issue occur if you test using a headset with your iPhone?
  3. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone
  4. Since you have a compatible iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.4. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.

Cheers!

Okay, I updated iOS to 16.4 but the problem appears to persist, but I think it’s a UI bug, only.

With my AirPods out, asking Siri to the set media volume, via the sleep/wake button or saying Hey Siri, works fine - both visually and with an actual volume change. However, when wearing my AirPods, Siri acknowledges my requests but does not update the wide volume bar, but does change the volume. This happens both while playing and when not playing audio.

So, the update helped some, but there a tiny bug left…
