Is it a setting I have missed: on my FB Messenger and another app, Downdetector, when I go to write a message, or enter a search, the keyboard no longer rises up, and I get the comment “Scan Text”. I do not have the ability to enter text at all. Had this issue for two days. Any clues anyone?

The "Scan text" option comes up when you're accessing the camera. But you want to enter text from your virtual keyboard. When you insert your cursor (or touch your finger into an area where you're a type) a virtual keyboard should come up unless you have a bluetooth or connected keyboard. Above the virtual keyboard will be some icons for scanning text, a pencil for writing text from an Apple Pencil. At its most basic level you can try this in the Notes.app your Messenger.app should act the same. Try also starting a new message to see if the virtual keyboard comes up at all. A screen shot will also help.

Since upgrading to iOS 16.4.1 the issue has stopped. It appears the person who has admin privileges on my iPad stopped me using my keyboard for security reasons.
I have no keyboard to type comments in Facebook. I want to type comments. How do I restore the keyboard?
