The finder path and status bar keeps turning themselves off

Up until yesterday, the finder status and path bar were always on when I opened a new finder window. Yesterday at one point something happened where both are not on any new finder windows. So I go to view and turn them both on for a new window... If I put my computer to sleep and then come back—any open finder window I had turned them on for has them off again. This is really inconvenient since both give me useful information as I work throughout the day. I've tried restarting and googling, but haven't really come across any helpful information on this aside from here's how to turn them on...

Anyone else have an issue like this? Any luck fixing it?

Try this…

While in Finder, press command shift g, copy then paste the following line into the dialog window that opens and press Return.

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

Move the file to the Trash but do not empty it.

Set the Path Bar and Status Bar to show and test.

If it works then you can empty the Trash.

If not, open the Trash, right click on the .plist and chose Put Back.
