iPhone 14 Pro not charging wirelessly

Hi all,

I have been using wireless charging via MagSafe charger using the Apple adaptor. It was working until a few days ago where I left it on to charge overnight and the battery percentage did not increase. It gave me a prompt saying that it is charging but the battery percentage decreased overnight. However, it works when i charge the iphone using a lightning cable. I have tried using the magsafe on a friend's iPhone 12 which is plugged onto the same socket and it works perfectly.

I have also tried:

  • cleaning the adaptor, the magsafe charger and my iphone
  • doing a hard reset
  • draining the battery completely
  • erase all settings
  • remove iphone casing
  • updated to the latest iOS 16.3.1
  • using a third party wireless charger

After trying all the above, it still do not work. Have anyone encountered the same issue and found a fix for this?

Thank you in advance

Hello freddy239,

It sounds like you've tried some good steps already. This page can assist with providing some available steps and info on wirelessly charging the device: How to wirelessly charge your iPhone - Apple Support

Charge wirelessly
1. Connect your charger to power. Use the power adapter that came with your accessory or a power adapter recommended by the manufacturer.
2. Place the charger on a level surface or other location recommended by the manufacturer.
3. Place your iPhone on the charger with the display facing up. For best performance, place it in the center of the charger or in the location recommended by manufacturer.
4. Your iPhone should start charging a few seconds after you place it on your wireless charger.

• Your iPhone might get slightly warmer while it charges. To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, software might limit charging above 80 percent. Your iPhone will charge again when the temperature drops. Try moving your iPhone and charger to a cooler location.

If you continue to experience issues the best next step will be to reach out to Apple Support for a further investigation: Apple Support

Cheers.

Hi Eric_G1,

Thank you for your reply.

I am using original Apple adapter and it is on surface level. It was charging for a few months already and it suddenly stopped charging several days ago. I have also tried method where i charged my phone to 100% using the cable then do a hard reset, however this does not fix the issue as well. I have updated to iOS16.4 yesterday hoping this will be the fix, but that also doesn't work.

This screenshot was from yesterday's charging pattern, I have left it on the MagSafe charger at around 12AM and left it overnight, it discharged from 79% to 48%. At around 6AM i used the lightning cable to charge the phone. It doesn't charge when i tried to charge it wirelessly but it works when wired. The battery seems to be dropping faster while on wireless charging.

Hope there's a fix for this.

Thanks,

Freddy Lim
