how secure is the erase assistant ("Erase all content and settings") in system settings?

I'm about to sell my 2018 MacBook Pro, and want to be certain that all sensitive data has been deleted from the HDD; how reliable is the Erase Assistant ("Erase all content and settings") at securely removing all data? Can anything be read from the hard drive with the right software tools afterwards?

systems erase isn't supported on my lapttop. I'm trading it in and need to delete everything before shipping how do I do that? i transferred all information from my macbook pro to my macbook air but I can't erase and reset my macbook pro because it says it isn't supported. I need to put this macbook pro in the mail for trade in. How do I erase it
