I got a new iPad and my messages didn’t transfer. Neither did my phone contacts. So now the message just has the phone number on my iPad. What can I do to transfer that info?

I got a new iPad and my messages didn’t transfer. So now I am just seeing the phone numbers instead of names. What can I do to get my messages back and see the persons name instead of a number?

Which Transfer method did you use to transfer data to your new iPad? Did the contact list populate in the Contacts app? Did you use the same Apple ID on your new iPad as you used on your other device? Do you use iCloud for Messages and Contacts etc?
