iPhone no longer water resistant after repair

Apple repaired my phone due to an internal defect, black dot, inside the camera lens. A month later, after the repair, my phone became unusable after liquid made its way inside the phone without any difference in use or exposure to water to be considered out of the norm, like maybe getting water on the phone from rain or after washing my hands, which I had done and would’ve been completely fine before the repair. I suspect the water seal was not applied properly after repair. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks

Thanks for the response. I’m quite certain the liquid damage was due to deficient repair.

Unfortunately, I didn’t know that repairs were under any kind of warranty. The Apple Store didn’t even inform of such warranty, which speaks volumes as to where they stand. I explained and pleaded with the store manager that this was a major oversight to no avail. At this point, I’ve paid for a device replacement because I needed the phone. This was basically the only option offered to me.

Based on this first hand experience, I understand that no one at this Apple Store will take responsibility for any deficiencies in repairs. Lesson learned. Next time, I’m going to approach this very differently for sure.

Hey snd0r,

We’d be happy to point you in the best direction for support. We understand you’re concerned about the water resistance of your iPhone after a recent repair. All repairs have a 90 day guarantee, so if concerned, we’d suggest bringing back into the service provider to have it looked at further. For more info on this repair guarantee check out: Legal - Repair Terms and Conditions - Apple

While we cannot guarantee they would cover the repair given the liquid damage, it’s certainly worth having them look at it further to determine if it was caused as a result of the recent repair that took place.

We hope this helps out.

Take care!
