How do you get phone remote to go up and down for appletv

Once you open the remote on your iPhone then you should see the touch pad. You should be able to use that to move the cursor on the Apple TV up or down or sideways.

AppleTV remote doesn’t work after IOS 17 I have a habit of putting the Apple Remote down and forgetting where I put it. So I use the AppleTV remote app on my IPhone 13 Pro Max Since installing IOS 17 and then 17.01 the iPhone App can’t even see the AppleTV device. it gets the rotating dots and the message searching. Any Ideas would be really helpful. BTW everything has been turned off and on.
