imported songs in iTunes not syncing

I have several songs showing Kind as 'Internet Audio Stream'. These tracks are greyed out and have a dotted cloud next to them that says "waiting." These tracks are all from CD's I imported into iTunes many years ago. They also will no longer play on my iPhone or iPad and says, "This song is not symced across your device" when I try to play them. Some how these songs were switched from AAC to internet audio stream I have tried everything I found as solutions to get these songs to sync and play and change the format to AAC with no luck. Any ideas?

Hello mneid,

We understand you have some songs not syncing from your computer to your iPhone or iPad. The first thing we'd recommend is making sure iTunes is updated for your Windows OS: Update to the latest version of iTunes for Windows 10 - Apple Support

If it is, we have additional questions to help narrow down the issue a bit:

  • Are you an Apple Music subscriber?
  • Are you subscribed to iTunes Match?
  • Did these songs sync before, but now don't?
  • When you noticed this occurring, had you made any recent changes to any of your devices?

That information will help us start to determine what might be going on. We look forward to hearing back from you.

Take care.

iTunes is updated. I’m subscribed to Apple Music. These songs worked and now don’t. No changes were made to any device. Not subscribed to iTunes Match. Really don’t want to shovel out even more money for music I’ve already purchased! Just recently noticed it but could’ve been happening for months. Maybe when I switched to iPhone 14 pro

Hi mneid,

We appreciate you letting us know. You mentioned the songs show as "Waiting," which is covered in this resource: If songs are missing from your music library after you turn on Sync Library:

"First, check these things

  • Are all of your devices connected to the internet?
  • Do you have an active subscription to Apple Music?
  • Are all of your devices signed in with the same Apple ID that you use with your Apple Music subscription?
  • Is Sync Library turned on for all of your devices?"

If everything checks out there, including making sure that Sync Library is on, this might help also:

"Waiting

The song won’t appear on your other devices because it’s waiting to upload. Choose File > Library > Update Cloud Library. Then check if the song appears on your other devices."

If you follow those steps and the issue persists, use this link to contact Apple directly next: Apple Support

Cheers.

Internet Audio Stream is normally associated with Internet Radio stations. Streams hold the URL of the stream, rather than a pointer to a file. I've seen this happen occasionally to files on network storage where the file still exists at a network path you can reach in the usual way, but iTunes has become confused. Can you see the original files somewhere in your file system? You may need to delete and reimport the tracks to get regular links to them. Select one of these items and use ctrl+i to get info, then look on the file tab to see what it lists as the location of the file/stream.
