Backups on external drive

How do I delete MacBook Air backups on an external drive and replace with the initial backup from my new MacBook Pro?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.5

You can inherit the old backup history.

If your new Mac inherits your backup history - Apple Support

If you choose NOT to inherit that backup history, you will need to ERASE the drive and tell time machine to use that blank drive for a new backup set.

Thank you. Really helpful. I’m going to inherit the old backups and start a new history for the MacBook Pro.
