Add Gmail Acct to Big Sur Email

Can't add Gmail account to MacBook Air Mail, os is Big Sur; the browser won't start. Is there a workaround or does anyone know when Apple plans to fix the problem?

What Browser will not Start ?

What Browser is set as the Default ?

P. Phillips - Your insight is greatly appreciated. Once I changed the default

browser from Chrome to Safari, all worked well. Thanks again 👍

Yes, changed the default browser from Chrome to Safari and all worked as it should.
