How to fix iCloud for Windows problems

by my experience and my research it doesn’t look like anybody has been able to use iCloud for windows for over a year at least, think everybody is getting the same error


The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

reinstalled it a few times. And media plays features on


I can’t find the answer I don’t know what to do

I get the following messages when I try to install/run iCloud on a new Win 11 installation:

  1. The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
  2. The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
  3. The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
  4. The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
  5. The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
  6. The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
  7. Upgrade to iCloud for Windows 14.1 failed. Please reboot and try again.


I searched for MSVCP140.dll issues and found a solution to install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

library. That didn’t work.


There’s some info at https://helpdeskgeek.com/help-desk/how-to-fix-msvcp140-dll-or-vcruntime140-dll-missing-or-not-found-error/ about repairing the Visual C++ files but the instructions are different from my settings.
