Kia Niro 23 and Apple carplay

Anyone found a solution to wired Apple CarPlay random disconnect in the Niro 23. Tried many leads, cleaned lightning port, but still it will not stay connected.

Hey DaveR1703,

We'd recommend taking a look over the tips here:

"If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, learn what to do.

First, make sure that your country or region supports CarPlay and that your car supports CarPlay. If you're unsure if your car supports CarPlay, contact the vehicle manufacturer.

Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:

  1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
    • If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
    • If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone under Settings > Bluetooth. Then go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on.
  1. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display and select it.
  2. Restart your iPhone and your car.
  3. Make sure that Siri is on.
  4. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
  5. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
  6. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support."

Cheers!

We are having the exact same issue with our 2023 Niro. It is happening on both of our phones (iPhone 13 and 13 pro max). We have tried at least three different cords, including two brand new cords. We have cleaned the ports, updated/restarted our phones, and everything else noted above. The issue only exists with wired carplay, which we have to use in order to be able to use GPS maps.

I have taken the car to the dealer twice. The first time they couldn't recreate it. The second they did, but they said it was a carplay issue. I recently plugged an android phone in and used Android Auto. No issues.

Please help. Driving on the highway and having GPS cut off at critical moments is dangerous!
