Final Cut Pro is slow all of a sudden

Using a 2020 MacBook Air with M1 chip, Final Cut Pro is slow all of a sudden. Any little change (pause, move clip, fast forward, etc.) in the timeline I get a spinning beachball lasting 2-15 seconds. With hundreds of these little moves in any hour, more than half of my time is spent waiting. I feel as though I'm missing something. Not using an external hard drive. Library is 300mb total. Background rendering is off. Using optimized media. I would greatly appreciate your help! Below is my etrecheck report:

Thank you for posting the Etrecheck report. Nothing jumps out at me as unusual. Maybe others will spot something.

Whenever FCP crashes or starts acting strangely an easy thing to try is resetting the preferences. Hold option and command while launching FCP and choose Delete Preferences. It will open the default Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, set the preferences back to the way you like them (disable background rendering, reset Import to Leave Files in Place, etc.) and see if the issue has been resolved.
