I want to use my HomePod as “soundbar” to my Sony tv. My old Marshall speaker can I connect to my tv and use as speaker, but how do I connect the new HomePod? Both the Sony and HomePod are visible in the Home app and I can play the sound in the HomePod on my tv, but how do I do it the other way around?
To have your tv audio play through HomePods, you need an Apple TV 4K (2nd or 3rd Gen) connected by HDMI cable to the television ARC/ eARC port.

This is very disappointing, I did for sure expect that this expensive speaker should be easy to use and easy to connect to my tv set. I’m not willing to purchase an Apple TV as they are expensive just for using it as a sound bar. This is not what I expected from Apple. I’m very disappointed.
