Would you mind helping me as well please? I am getting desperate. 12 years of weekly podcast updates and I've never had the feed not update. We have our .xml file on our hostgator public_html file directory.
Here is the feed: aaapodcast.com/aaapodcast_episode1.xml
Here is our page on apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/anime-addicts-anonymous/id324698394
I usually feed validate through https://validator.w3.org/feed/ which makes it easy to see.
Please help.
The two missing episodes do appear when subscribing: they did also appear for me even when the redirect tag was in place, which is a little puzzling since I would have expected to have been directed to the other URL.
When did that redirect tag go in? If, say, you had introduced it after episode 666, then Podcasts would have been redirected to that nonexistent feed, and so wouldn't show any further updates to the original one. However as you say the correct URL shows in Podcasts Connect, it's puzzling.
The real issue is the non-appearance of 667 on its original posting. Changing the PubDate may make Podcasts see it as a new episode, so as it's seen when subscribing there's a good chance it will appear in a day or so. I suspect something prevented the feed from being read between the time you originally posted 667 and the time you changed the PubDate: if so, it's a mystery but irrelevant.
Give it two days, then if they don't appear you could try contacting Podcast Support and asking them to refresh the feed: https://itunespartner.apple.com/contact/?content_type=podcasts
I should note that this is appearing on some other podcast feed aggregators. But not Apple. :(
The latest two episodes in the feed were published less than 24 hours ago. They appear when subscribing on a Mac (where the feed is read directly) but not in the Apple Podcasts preview page or the app, or iTunes Store where applicable. This is normal - it can take 1-2 days for a new episode to appear there as the feeds (and there are thousands) are visited in some sort of rotation. I believe that iOS devices read the 'store' rather than the feed, so they won't show the episodes yet. They should appear in a day or so.
There is another issue: your feed has the following tag:
<itunes:new-feed-url>http://feeds.podtrac.com/ujL09Wc_Yu8$</itunes:new-feed-url>
This will redirect Podcasts (and subscribers) permanently to the enclosed URL (it does not affect other aggregators): however I can't get that to load. I have no way of checking which feed Podcasts thinks it should be using, but if it's redirected to that new URL - which isn't working - you have a serious problem. You should go to your Podcasts Connect page and check what feed is registered there: if it's this new URL, change it back. You may of lost some subscribers over this, and you can't do anything about that. And remove that tag from the feed ASAP. So far Podcasts is up to date, but that may change.
For future reference, it's best to start a new thread when you have a question. If the original poster comes back (which now seems unlikely) you get interleaved answers. One more person joins in and you've got chaos.
Thank you in the future I will make my own thread.
A couple comments. So I removed the line of code as you suggested.
Also, the episode 667 <item> has actually been on the feed for 2 weeks. I just added yet another episode we did and added it to the feed and updated the dates for both of them since the other one never released anyway.
The info on podcasts connect looks accurate. Do you have any other suggestions. Thank you!
In order to attempt to diagnose the problem I would need the URL of your feed, and also of your Apple Podcasts preview page.
