How to get rid of vertical side panel?
when I try to open a link sent to me in an email, the article opens up in a vertiical side panel. I want to open it up in a new, full page.

You need to explore multitasking - as you have a slide-over Safari window enabled. Key to accessing and controlling multi-tasking is the small “three-dot” button that is found at the top-centre edge of App windows.
