HDMI not working on my MacBook air

Hello, recently I was trying to use my graphic tablet on my Mac, however my Mac doesn’t have any HDMI ports, so I bought a USB to HDMI adapter, but it still doesn’t work, I was told that I needed to configure the ports of something like that? But I’m not exactly sure

my Mac is a 13-inch MacBook Air from early 2014

and my graphic tablet is an artist 12 pro from xp-pen
