Movie not streaming in Dolby Vision on Disney Hotstar App

Hi Apple,

it wont work, tech support keeps making excuses.

It will not be resolved until you intervene.

Apart from the fact that they discredit you and basically say that Dolby Vision is not supported by Apple TV, of course this is a lie.

The problem happens to me too, I use a first generation Apple Tv 4k.

i spoke with Disney-Hotstar tech support and it turns out that they do not support the first generation Apple Tv 4K devices, the tech support advised me to change the settings manually when I want to watch Dolby Vision content.

In my opinion this is a outrages because Netflix does support dynamic content match, even on a first generation device.

Hotstar developers are just lazy.

Edit: Iv'e just seen your comment about your conversation with their tech support and the fact they told you they do not support dolby vision for Apple Tv at all.

I think they are making excuses...

They are lying .

Dolby Vision and HDR from Hotstar app is working absolutely fine on my Apple TV 4K 2nd Gen.

the issue is with the latest update of the app they have released .

also they have a new 4K plan which is 1499₹ .

do check if you are subscribed to the premium 4K plan.

I understand.

but hardware incompatibility cannot be the final remark from them.

they have messed up with their encoding algorithm in the new update with redesign and their own video player .

It is their duty to rectify it .

hopefully someone more technical knowledge from their team should acknowledge this and fix it .

I am using Hotstar since last 2 years on the same AppleTV you bought as well the version before that .

I have two in my home .

Dolby Vision / HDR both used to work fine.

Since their new update, Ver 23.02.21

this issue has started .

Even I have given the feedback of the issue .

this has affected all AppleTV models which has installed the newer version of their App.

we can only wait for an update from them.

Even i have been facing the same issue with HDR mode not switching automatically when watching eligibile contents on disney+hotstar after the new app update. I raised ticket first with hotstar but they said the video is outputting hdr mode so issue lies with tvos and needs to be fixed. Same applies to 4k hdr contents in sony liv app on apple tv 4k. Rest all apps hdr works fine. The samsung tv tizen apps for hotstar and sony liv provide hdr mode support. Please fix this asap.

Yes it’s hotstar app’s fault ,nothing Apple can do here .

the App Devs of Hotstar has to fix this.

Even FireTV platform and some AndroidTV platforms are facing the same issue with their respective Hotstar app with HDR/DV not working since the new UI update of Hotstar.

Frame rate switching is not working. Dynamic range is not working. That’s the bug. They have to fix it.

I have an Apple TV 4K 3rd gen. The Disney Hotstar app does not stream the movies in Dolby Vision. It only works after I offload the app then it llstops working on next start up
