Gmail suddenly stopped deleting mail from iCloud.

I have been using Gmail on my Pixel with an app-specific password to access my icloud email for years. Suddenly this weekend it stopped deleting emails-- I'll delete them on the app and five minutes later it fetches them again. I've tried generating a new app-specific password. I have not made any major changes to my phone this week and have not touched the ingoing or outgoing server settings. How do I get it to sync again so I don't have to log on to my browser to delete email?

Login to you icloud account on the web and check to see if there is a Trash folder (folder icon ) separate from the normal trash folder (trashcan icon). I deleted the trash folder (icon) and everything in it. Then I deleted everything in the trash(can icon).

That seems to have fixed my same issue.

It sounds like you have taken some great steps to ensure you are able to continue receiving iCloud mail on your Android device. It may be necessary to remove your iCloud account, then add it again. When doing so, be sure to follow the guide we've linked for you below. This will help ensure the proper server settings are applied.

Thanks! That seems to have done it, despite me entering the same exact details as I already had. Not sure whose end it was on or what change could have caused the issue, but I did a total phone reboot between deleting and re-adding and I haven't gotten the same old emails sent to me in the last 30 mins! Success.

It just started happening AGAIN. Every email since 9:27 will not be deleted. They are getting marked as read in the icloud browser inbox though when I read them on Gmail-- so I know SOME information is syncing. Just not that I've deleted them. That original email I tested it with stayed deleted though.
