Brother scanner and mac OS 12

Since updating to mac OS 12.5.1 I can no longer scan documents using my Brother MFC9130CW. Printing still works as before. I've learned Brother has no plan to support this new operating system, and they point users to an app (iPrint&Scan). However, this app has very limited capabilities, most notably it does not support combining multiple pages into a single pdf.

Is anyone aware of a workaround?

I have no problem using iPrint&Scan to scan multiple pages into a single PDF. After scanning the first page, click the "Add pages" button above the top right of the display of the scanned page.
