SOCD report detected: (AP watchdog expired)

Looks like this error doesn't seem to go away and nobody seems to know what causes it (other than externally connected devices, which is a bit annoying).

One thing to add to the trouble shooting.

I have two M1 Mac mini's. One runs effectively as a server and is on 24/7. Both have externally connected Lacie Rugged USB drives.

The M1 that is permanently on crashes occasionally. Recovery shows error as SOCD report detected: (AP watchdog expired).

The other M1 gets switched off every once in a while.

This morning the "once in a while" machine crashed and the error reason was SOCD report detected: (AP watchdog expired).

Is this a software issue rather than a hardware one ?

Both machines using Ventura 13.2.1

Mac mini, macOS 12.6

<Lacie Rugged USB drives> Have you tried an alternative enclosure/drive and compare your results?

"SOCD report detected: (Ap watchdog expired) refers to an error code that follows your Mac's unnormal shutdown and restart. This error code may be caused by a poor connection between the external drive and your Mac, a tiny error disk, incompatibility of Mac hardware and software, and the motherboard hardware failure."

Building on previous suggestion.

The only finding related to M1 Mac Mini related to Drives to Sleep is in below image

Not sure this will affect External Drives though

The Slide to OFF ( Grey )

Can you remind me the path to this Settings pane—

I have seen it once in the current MacOS Ventura but could not find it again before I posted above...

It does seem like it included/ duplicated in the screenshot above, no(?)

thx in advance
