iPad mini 6 - can I use a Usb c to usb a to charge or will it be harmful

Just bought iPad mini and booked a last minute holiday.....chargers on plane / boat are usb a as are my travel chargers and finding if difficult to find a decent European usb c charger .....wondering if I can just use a usb c from iPad mini to usb a lead to charge without harming the ipad? Assuming it will just be slower? Thanks in advance

Yes.

You CAN use a USB-A to USB-C cable to charge from a USB-A charging adapter.

Should be no issues.

Just slower charging.
