Restore texts from a particular phone #

The only option to restore text is in iOS 16 in Recently Deleted in the Messages app. Or do as Bob Timmons suggests.

Messages in Recently Deleted are saved for 30 - 40 days, after which they are automatically deleted.

Open Messages app → Tap Edit in the upper left corner → Tap Show Recently Deleted.

If you can't find the messages there, then unfortunately they are gone.

It is a real long shot, but try to contact your carrier and see if they have a site that allows you to look at message history.
